Cal Turner Rehab & Specialty Care offering pharmacogenetics testing
Cal Turner Rehab & Specialty Care is partnering with Gravity Diagnostics to offer pharmacogenetics (PGx) testing to help provide the best plan of care to their patients.
PGx testing offers a streamlined process to help deliver results to their patients. First, a patient sends away a cheek swab collection to Gravity Diagnostics lab, and within five business days Gravity sends results to the patient’s healthcare provider so the provider can provide a customized medication plan made specifically for that patient.
PGx testing looks at a person’s key genetic factors that can play a role in how well a person will respond to different medications and it determines if a person may be at an increased risk of a medicine causing side effects.
PGx testing identifies specific differences within an individual’s DNA and how those difference may affect their response to certain medications. This information allows a provider to determine what may be the best match between a patient and their medications.
“The PGx testing is another resource for our providers to utilize in providing the best plan of care possible for our residents,” said Jacqueline Woodward, administrator at Cal Turner Rehab & Specially Care. “To have PGx testing readily available for our residents is another example of how residents’ care is our priority.”
