Make the Season Bright

For more than 25 years the Med Center Health Foundation’s Make the Season Bright Program has offered a unique way to honor someone special, while also supporting health-centered missions for those they may never meet. It’s like giving two meaningful gifts with a single gesture.

How does the program work?

Beginning in early November, anyone can “purchase” a holiday light in honor or memory of someone special in their lives. Available at $10, $25, $50, or $100 levels, these lights will be placed on a special outdoor tree at The Medical Centers in Bowling Green, Scottsville and Franklin, Kentucky. A special public lighting ceremony will take place at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.

How can I help?

Reserve a light and join us for the Make the Season Bright tree lighting service, or sponsor the event at levels beginning at $250.

What does it mean to ‘Light It Up All Year?’

By checking the “Light It Up All Year” box when you donate, your gift will become a monthly gift of $10 until directed otherwise. Lighted star-shaped lanterns will hang in the windows of The Hospitality House all year long as a tribute to those who make these generous donations.

How will the person I recognize know I have made a donation in their honor?

After a donation is received and the donor has indicated that they wish to send an acknowledgment, a card will be forwarded as requested. Gifts can also be given anonymously.

How will the donations be used?

The Foundation supports varied not-for-profit initiatives including Med Center Health’s Community Clinic and The Dental Clinic, Guardian Angel Program, the Hospitality House, Cancer Treatment for Southern Kentucky, Health Sciences Simulation Lab, nursing and physician student scholarships, and health and wellness initiatives such as The Medical Center at Franklin’s Walking Trail Project and Med Center Scottsville’s Cal Turner Courtyard Renovation—just to mention a few! Each year the Foundation chooses an initiative with the greatest need to support through Make the Season Bright.

What happens at the Tree Lighting Ceremony?

Something is sure to touch everyone’s heart during the program, which includes beautiful holiday music, heartfelt testimonials, and the actual lighting of the outdoor tree. Perhaps the most special is the lighting of candles and a moment of silence to honor those represented by the lights. After the tree lighting there is more music, holiday cookies and hot chocolate, and a visit from Santa for the kids.
